Flat Earth Fallout

The one thing that is not even a debate around flat earth is the amount of energy in the pushback. I've had a front row to social media outrage for going on 7 years now. Dropping hard Rs, naming the jews, zionism, endorsing Trump, making fun of Trump, moon landing, even the esoterics around the trinity- all a distant 2nd to flat earth pushback. I have no idea what happened with "the final experiment" recently but I do know branding and psyops. I've become an expert in both. TFE was 'the flat earth' originally and just like Joe Biden pushing some random initiative about crack pipes was to circumvent a Google search result about "Biden crack pipe" (running cover for Hunter), this is the same thing. To what aim? I only have speculations, but it isn't because the false god of science got its feelings hurt. There's something else going on.

Cancel Culture Crucifixion

This is a work in progress- but I had a uniquely different image of the crucifixion from the perspective of modern-day cancel culture. South Park did a great job illustrating the seemingly psychotic need for destruction lead by mobs of individuals towards a celebrity. In their take, it was a version of the alleged pagan human sacrifice for crop yield, but the architype of the bloodthirsty mob was expertly illustrated.  Raising someone up to idol status and then tearing them down seems to be a universal experience, not unique to our time. Cancel culture is just the modern version of it. The intensity and tactics may be new insofar as the mobs are digital, and the suffering is social reputation and potentially financial- but the seemingly demonic possession and crazed desire to inflict pain appears to not be new. This got me thinking of the crucifixion and a potential new take on it. What if the scape goats of the romans & jews being blamed for the events of that day aren't the f...

Why The Genie Couldn't Grant Love As A Wish

It recently dawned on me why the legends of genies who grant three wishes (or in some lore, unlimited wishes) had one specific limitation. Since I first learned of this limitation, I had just assumed it was a unique axiomatic addition to the stories, but not one that was neccesarily required. However I was recently reflecting on the nature of love, choice & free will and something occurred to me. Since the fundamental nature of unconditional love, is one that comes naturally and of the free will of the person giving it- to force someone (even through magic) is paradoxical. If the wish-grantee would be given said impossible wish of being loved by an individual, they would always know that it was only because of the wish, and not something that was given to them freely. Love by it's nature isn't transactional, earnable or obtainable through coercion. Therefor it is literally impossible for the genie to grant such a request. On a theological & philosophical level, there is...

If Life Gives You Lemons

Lemons are the pandas of the fruit world. They don't exist naturally. They're a crossbreed of citrons & a bitter orange.  How does that change the moral?  "When life gives you lemons, it actually didn't. You invented it. So stop blaming life for your own creations." -Codd

Canceled

Depending on the generation and period in time, if you were speaking of an entertainer or show you might point out how they or it was "canceled." Long before the age of the internet and social media, this would simply mean there would be no more episodes of that show. Now, well into the age of social media, it essentially attempts the same thing. On it's functional level, someone or some group of individuals agreed for whatever reason, an aspect of media is to be prevented from continuing. A show's ratings are low and the investment in continuing more episodes no longer seems economically viable. An entertainer has gone against the grain of the zeitgeist- a similar fate is directed at the platform they utilize. In a so-called 'free market' and meritocratic system, this phenomina would seemingly occur on it's own as a function of eyeballs and demand. It would stand to reason the surviving media would appear to be of higher value either as entertainment or i...

Million Dollar Madden

I hope if someone takes some of my ideas and makes a ton of money from it, they at least credit or throw a tip. I don't wanna sit on a good idea like smaug and I don't have the time to even find who / where to post such a thing, but when inspiration strikes, I thought I'd put it out on the interwebs. For whatever reason the algorithm gave me a series of football terminology clips on my FYP. One in particular was Drew Brees (former quarterback of the New Orleans Saints) explaining play call terminology on a talk show culminating in him calling the play, in all it's complexity, with verbal quickness. The portion of it that would appear to be impressive, is the tight window of time he has to do it. Given that AI has advanced so much to not only have very effective speech recognition, but also create a world of NPCs that are ever less NPC-ish (in a traditional game sense), I have an idea for the next generation of madden games. This combined with the era we live in with gam...
